The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has released a new recruitment notification for 51 posts on a contractual basis under the Strengthening of Environmental Regulators (SER) – Phase-III Project on River Ganga. The project is being executed by CPCB and is funded by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) under the Namami Gange Programme.

For the Scientist posts, the notification specifically requires experience in areas such as river pollution, industrial pollution, sewage management and environmental management, depending on the post. 

For Data Entry Operator, candidates need a First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Science/BCA and must qualify the computer-based skill test with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, along with English typing speed of 45 wpm and Hindi typing speed of 35 wpm. 

For Field Assistant, candidates must have passed 10+2 in Science with at least 55% marks and should have knowledge of water/wastewater sampling and sample preservation.

These are contractual consolidated payments, not regular CPCB pay scales.

Selection Process

The CPCB Recruitment 2026 selection process will mainly involve screening/document verification and interview. The Board may also conduct a written test if required. The selection committee has the discretion to shortlist candidates based on written examination, marks, relevant experience, desirable/higher qualifications or other suitable criteria. 

Candidates who meet the required qualification and experience may be called for written test and/or interview, followed by the final selection process. 

Exam Pattern

This recruitment does not have a fixed common competitive exam pattern mentioned in the notification. CPCB may use a written test for screening if a large number of applications are received.
