SBI Trade Finance Officer Eligibility

JMGS-I

For Trade Finance Officer – JMGS-I, candidates should:

  • Be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognised University/Institution.
  • Have Certification in Forex Operations from IIBF.
  • The IIBF certificate should be dated on or before 31 July 2026.
  • Have at least 1 year of post-qualification experience in Trade Finance processing and operations.
  • The experience must be in an Officer/Official role in a Scheduled Commercial Bank, preferably in a Maker role.
  • Good communication, presentation and processing skills are required. 

MMGS-II

For Trade Finance Officer – MMGS-II, candidates should:

  • Be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognised University/Institution.
  • Have Certification in Forex Operations from IIBF by the prescribed date.
  • Have at least 3 years of post-qualification experience in Trade Finance processing.
  • The experience must be in an Officer/Official role in a Scheduled Commercial Bank.
  • Good communication, presentation and processing skills are required. 

Candidates who have suitable additional certifications such as CDCS, CSDG, CTFP, GTC, CITF or International Trade Finance certification may have an advantage, as these are listed as preferred qualifications in the notification.

Age relaxation is available to eligible reserved-category candidates as per Government of India guidelines. For example, OBC-NCL candidates get 3 years, SC/ST candidates get 5 years and applicable PwBD relaxation is also provided. 

SBI Trade Finance Officer Salary

The selected candidates will be appointed on regular basis.

JMGS-I Salary

The pay scale is: ₹48,480 – ₹85,920

MMGS-II Salary

The pay scale is: ₹64,820 – ₹93,960

Apart from basic pay, eligible officers will receive benefits such as DA, HRA, CCA, Provident Fund, NPS, LFC, medical facilities and other applicable benefits as per SBI rules. The probation period mentioned is 6 months

Job Profile of Trade Finance Officer

The role mainly deals with Trade Finance and Forex-related banking operations.

For the Maker role (JMGS-I), responsibilities include entering trade transactions, scanning and uploading documents, checking documents before approval and entering screening-related data.

For the Checker role (MMGS-II), responsibilities include checking transaction details, scrutinising documents, sanctions/AML screening and ensuring regulatory compliance. 

The job may involve shifts, including:

  • 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • 1:30 PM – 10:30 PM
  • 9:00 PM – 6:00 AM

SBI has stated that shift timings can be changed according to business requirements. 

SBI Trade Finance 2026 Selection Process

The selection process consists of:

1. Shortlisting

Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not automatically guarantee an interview call. SBI’s shortlisting committee will decide the parameters and shortlist the required number of candidates. 

2. Interview

The interview will carry 100 marks. The qualifying marks will be decided by SBI.

3. Final Merit List

The merit list will be prepared in descending order based on the interview marks. If candidates receive the same cut-off marks, the older candidate will be placed higher in merit according to the notification’s tie-breaking rule.
