Eligibility Criteria

Candidates claiming age relaxation must provide the required supporting certificate at the interview or later stage whenever requested by the Bank. 

Banking Experience

This is an important condition of the recruitment.

Applicants must have at least 1 year of post-qualification experience as an Officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India.

Experience in the clerical cadre will not be counted for this recruitment. The candidate will also have to submit an experience certificate/job profile from the existing or previous employer. 

Local Language Requirement

Candidates must be able to read, write, speak and understand the local language of the state for which they are applying.

For example, candidates applying for Maharashtra vacancies need proficiency in Marathi. The Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT) will be required for shortlisted candidates unless they can provide a Class 10 or 12 certificate/marksheet showing that they studied the specified local language. 

Salary / Pay Scale

The Local Bank Officer post is in JMG/S-I scale. The basic pay starts from ₹48,480 and can go up to ₹85,920 according to the applicable scale and increments.

The notification also provides one advance increment to candidates having one year or more of experience as an Officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank. Apart from basic pay, selected candidates will receive applicable allowances, benefits and other facilities according to Bank of Baroda policies and banking industry settlements. 

Posting Location

For the first 12 years of service, selected candidates will generally be posted within the state for which they applied, or until promotion to SMGS-IV grade, whichever is earlier.

After that period, the Bank may post them at any of its branches/offices or anywhere in India as per its requirements. 

Probation Period

Selected Local Bank Officers will remain on 12 months probation from the date of joining the Bank. 

Service Bond

Selected candidates have to execute a service bond. As per the current terms, they are required to serve the Bank for at least 3 years after joining.

If a candidate leaves before completing three years of active service, the current bond provides for payment equivalent to three months’ gross salary, subject to a maximum of ₹2 lakh

Selection Process

The Bank of Baroda LBO Recruitment 2026 selection process includes an online examination followed by further assessment/interview stages.

The Bank may also conduct a Psychometric Test, Group Discussion, Personal Interview or other suitable tests, depending on its requirements.

The English Language section is qualifying in nature, and its marks will not be counted for the final merit list. The remaining sections are available in English and Hindi, with separate timing for each section. 

There is also negative marking. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. No penalty is applied when a question is left unanswered. 

After the online examination, shortlisted candidates may have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test, followed by Group Discussion/Personal Interview or other assessment as decided by the Bank. Candidates who fail the required local language test will not be allowed to proceed to the Personal Interview.
